Relationship Resource: Love Every Day
If you’re a military spouse, or you and/or your partner have a job that keeps you spending more time on the road (or sky) than home, this app may be a good way to help you connect.
To say the least, these past few years have really changed our family dynamic. In the past 5 years, we will have moved 4 times, we have welcomed two amazing kiddos, we purchased our first house, currently getting ready to sell our first house, made some major career transitions, and have survived so many extended “work trips” or TDYs.
Obviously, change has occurred, and with that, our relationship has grown and evolved as well. If there is ONE thing I always encourage, it’s effective communication. Although, this is messy at times, and probably more than I like to admit, I’ve typically found, if we can communicate, we can prevail.
With this being said, I am always seeking out great resources for our military spouse warriors. And YES, I SAID WARRIORS. Nobody understands or will understand your sacrifices like other military spouses who have lived it and/or are living it.
So, warriors, here is a pretty cool resource I stumbled upon that I decided to give a test drive and wanted to share.
It’s a resiliency tool called Love Every Day. Here is the link, if you’d like to check it out: Love Every Day .
BLUF From Military OneSource:
”Love Every Day is a fun and interactive way that helps you develop and practice good relationship communication in only a few minutes each day. You get personalized text messages for 21 days to help foster a renewed sense of connection. By making intimate communication a consistent part of your daily routine, you and your partner learn to apply the skills in everyday life…”
I decided to begin using this app as my husband was on a 2-weekish TDY to really test it out. I sent my hubby a message on Day 2 of his trip and he was happy to give it a try. It was a success and we both enjoyed the prompts and opportunities to connect, despite being apart.
How it works:
1. Each morning, you and your partner receive a text saying your Love Every Day question is ready along with a link.
2. You simply click the link, and it will take you to the question where you can answer it.
3. You will also receive a text message alerting you when your partner has answered the question so you can view it.
What I like the most about Love Every Day is it is SO easy to use, and it literally takes a few seconds. The few moments it takes to answer thoughtfully to the questions gives us things to think and smile about throughout the day, helping to fill up those love tanks.
It’s the little things that matter most, and taking a couple minutes each day to reminisce or remind ourselves of the special things about our relationship and partner is important. It’s also nice to hear your spouse’s perspectives on different events and memories that you may not have heard before. I hope you have the opportunity to give this tool a try! It’s a great conversation starter, opens an opportunity for communication and can absolutely provide needed reminders in prolonged times of being away from your partner.
How do you connect with your spouse while they are on a long trip?
